Railroad crossing upgrade begins Tuesday

[September 02, 2011]  The Illinois Central/Canadian National Railroad will be performing work to upgrade their at-grade rail crossings at Illinois Route 10, Kickapoo Street and Nicholson Road. The project is expected to begin on Tuesday with the Route 10 crossing.

The work on each crossing will begin the first workday of each week. Each crossing should be open by the end of business each Friday evening. According to Tim Parker, track supervisor for CN Railroad, none of the crossings should be closed over a weekend.

Following are the projected dates for the work:

Detour routes will be marked for each crossing affected by the improvement work.
