Tickets were sold for 50 cents each for inflatables, duck pond, ring toss, dunk tank and other yard games at the Zion Lutheran School Family Fun Fest.

The dunk tank was a popular spot on Saturday, especially since temperatures were in the 90s.

Dunk tank interest was at its highest when Zion Lutheran teacher Mrs. Hunsley took the seat behind the target.

Organizers were Karen Burgrabe, who chaired the challenge committee, Dave Opperman and Doug Sheley, but they were only three of the many volunteers who made the Saturday festival a success.

Donna and Steve Sauer took a turn managing the sale tent for meat items. Donna retired from Zion Lutheran School at the end of last school year after 37 years.

Kitchen volunteers took care of the barbecue and baked beans as well as washing up everything after they were done. The volunteers included Bonnie Montgomery, Pam Conrady, Joan Dahmm, Steph Opperman and Tom Tripplett.

Since their daughter, Kayla, was at Zion, the Huskins family and friends have volunteered to run the carryout tent. The school provides the food and space, and the family puts its system together and serves the patrons at the drive-thru. Volunteers included Richard, Christie and Kayla Huskins and several friends.

With all the other things to do, it was still fun to swing on the playground. Parents moved back and forth between conversations with friends and watching the kids at the game area.
