[September 06, 2011]  DES PLAINES -- The Lincoln College volleyball team ran the table at the Oakton Community College invitational on Saturday by defeating all three of their opponents and improving to 4-1 on the season.

Lincoln swept their first two matches of the day in straight sets over Oakton (25-15, 25-23, 25-14) and College of DuPage (25-12, 25-10, 25-17).

That set up a showdown between the Lady Lynx and Harper College, which was also 2-0 going into the final match of the day. LC got off to a fast start and took set one 25-14.  They built a comfortable lead in set two; however, Harper was able to make their way back into the set and eventually won it 27-25.  Lincoln regained the momentum in set three and went on to win 25-11, then took set four by a score of 25-20 for the match victory.

LC coach Mark Tippett commented:

"Our team performed well in all aspects of the game today. I was especially impressed with the intensity I saw on defense and with our serve receive passing. We put a lot of hard work into those two areas this week in practice, and it certainly paid off against some tough opponents. What makes it even more satisfying is that every player on our roster made positive contributions to the victories, and it was obvious that our team is having fun playing together. Overall, I am very pleased with how this group is progressing."

Lincoln will travel to Parkland College on Wednesday for a 6 p.m. match.
