[September 06, 2011]  In the following statement, Logan County Circuit Clerk Mary Kelley announces her candidacy for re-election in the upcoming primary election on March 20, 2012, and the general election in November 2012.

(Copy from email)

I have been employed by the Logan County Circuit Clerk's Office for 33 years while being elected as Logan County Circuit Clerk in November 2010 to fill a 2 year unexpired term as Logan County Circuit Clerk.

With 13% budget cuts handed to each of the county offices this fiscal year I have been able to maintain the quality, the integrity, and uphold the running of my office while providing our court system with the necessary and customary services needed to operate on a day-to-day basis.

Internally I have taken steps to stay within my budget even though costs have risen. I have updated our collections procedures per statute, which is bringing in more revenue for the county. I have utilized part time workers with the document storage procedures.

Although a scanning project has been in place I have been able to enhance this archival procedure by updating a logging system for these records, which means easier searching of these records.

As the caseload continues to grow and space is becoming a true issue for storage I have implemented a plan to allow the progress of the retention/destruction process of court records per statute guidelines.
