The first two weeks of building trades class
are spent in the classroom learning fundamental terms, safety
guidelines and construction methods.
|

The building trades house will be a
three-bedroom, two-bath home with an attached garage and over 1,500
square feet of living space. |

|

Seniors Hayden Matson and Jade Leake are in
their second year of building trades, and both came to the class
with some construction experience.
|

Instructor Justin Dietrich is on the job site
with each class. He had construction experience before teaching
building trades, and he was part of a crew that built a house this
summer. |
|

Each building trades class is slightly less
than two hours. A bus transports the students to and from the high school.
|

The Lincoln Community High School building
trades class is for juniors and seniors. Students learn about every
aspect of home construction.

|

Ryan Montcalm (in the crawl space) and Jadon
Wheeler inspect their work from the morning class. Both students are
juniors, in their first year of building trades.
|

Jason Sheley measured the cut on one of the
floor beams. Class time before actual construction gives students
the knowledge they use on the job site.
