Lincoln Rural FPD raises flag at Bonanza

Saturday morning the Lincoln Rural Fire Protection District had a flag-raising ceremony in the parking lot of the Bonanza in Lincoln.

With the ceremony in memory and honor of the lives lost on Sept. 11, 2001, the men, dressed in their best, gently unfurled a huge flag at the end of their ladder truck. As the ladder rose and the flag unfurled, those at the ceremony offered a salute.

Immediately after, the firefighters posed for a picture with Bonanza owner Brett Borst (pictured below, center). Borst said he had decided to do a free buffet for all first responders because of the respect he has for them. He noted that his uncle was a firefighter, and he's always appreciated what they do for the community, with very little thanks.
