"Carolyn does an excellent job of multitasking in order to meet the
demands of her job," explains her nominator, co-worker Brenda
Miller. "In a busy office like ours, she can juggle phone calls, the
computer, the fax machine, patients and staff, all while making
everyone feel important. She has a way of making things 'flow'
effortlessly." Miller added that Marten is patient, kind,
friendly, funny, hardworking and resourceful. "She makes my job
easier by being a huge source of knowledge," her nominator said.
Marten is an administrative assistant in rehabilitation services.
She started her career at ALMH in 1998 after operating a home day
care for 20 years. She graduated from Atlanta High School in 1967
and worked at FS (Growmark FS) in Bloomington right out of school.
Her position at ALMH requires a great deal of computer knowledge
and customer service. She describes her day-to-day job as "very
hectic; never a dull moment." She schedules and checks in patients
in the bustling rehab department. "Days go by very fast," she says.
"There are lots of great people to meet."
She likes working at ALMH because of the friendly people in all
the departments who make each other feel like family.
"It is a great feeling to know you are able to help another
person, even if the job is as small as changing an appointment
time," she says. "Smile as much as you can. When you smile, everyone
smiles with you."
