[September 22, 2011]  To celebrate National Head Start Awareness Month, Community Action will have open houses in Head Start classrooms during October.

Two open houses have been scheduled at the Community Action Head Start centers in Lincoln. The first will be at 2018 N. Kickapoo on Oct. 18 from 9 to 11 a.m. and again from 5 to 6 p.m. Another open house will be at 200 Centennial Court on Oct. 25 from 9 to 11 a.m. and again from 5 to 6 p.m.

The classrooms will display children's artwork and special projects. The teaching staff will be on hand to answer questions regarding the Creative Curriculum used in the Community Action Head Start learning environment. Family partnership staff will also be available to provide information regarding enrollment opportunities. All members of the community are invited to attend.

"There is just nothing like spending time with our Head Start children. Any members of the community who have a special talent to share or who would like to donate time are encouraged to attend or contact us for volunteer opportunities," said Angela Stoltzenburg, Community Action executive director.
