Vonderlieth party, Writers Club, Woman's Club, DaVita and LCU Parents' Weekend make Close Up

September 20, 2011]  Vonderlieth Living Center is having a Fall Garden Party. The event will include an antique car show, entertainment, food, drinks and door prizes. The date is Sunday, Sept. 25, from 1 to 3 p.m. at 1120 N. Topper Drive in Mount Pulaski. Call Jo Hilliard, administrator, at 792-3218 to learn more.

Join them for fellowship, food and fun, plus a tour of their new Memory Garden, created in honor of the men and women who have been a vital part of Vonderlieth.


Lincoln Writers Club will meet Tuesday, Oct. 11, at 6:30 p.m. in the Alumni Room at the Lincoln College dining hall. Special guest speaker will be Louella Moreland from Lincoln Public Library Youth Services. Come and see what makes a good children's book. All are welcome.


Lincoln Woman's Club members will start the fall season with a membership tea at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 21, at the Woman's Club Building, 230 N. McLean St.

The program will be presented by Steve Siltman, EMT-P, chief executive officer for the Logan County Paramedic Association. Greeters for the meeting are Diane Osborn, Janet Haning and Judy Lumpp, with Judy Rader and Jane Redding as social co-chairwomen. Sue Beaver, president, will give the devotions.


DaVita Lincoln Dialysis clinic was awarded the 5-Diamond Patient Safety Award from Renal Network Region 9/10 for having an outstanding patient safety program. The award was presented to Dave Huffman, facility administrator, by congressman Aaron Schock.

DaVita Lincoln is only the second clinic in Illinois to have received this award and is extremely honored. The award demonstrates the clinic's commitment to excellent patient care and safety.

The Renal Network is an organization that helps oversee dialysis clinics across the nation.

Lincoln Christian University's Parents' Weekend is coming up Oct. 1-2, and they are looking for area restaurants and chamber members to offer discounts to LCU parents and students.
