[September 27, 2011]  CONCORD, N.C. (AP) -- The wife of NASCAR driver Matt Kenseth crashed during practice for an exhibition race at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

A spokesman for the track says Katie Kenseth was taken to a hospital after the crash Monday night. The spokesman says she was treated and released. That was the only information the Kenseths had provided.

Charlotte news station WCNC posted photos on its website of Kenseth running down pit road to his wife's aid after the accident.

Katie Kenseth is one of many wives and girlfriends scheduled to drive in the Oct. 15 "Better Half Dash" before the Sprint Cup Series race that evening. The race is scheduled to be 25 laps in a "Bandalero" car, which resembles a full-bodied go-cart.

Monday's practice session was the first of two scheduled for this week.
