[September 27, 2011] (AP) The most active weather Tuesday will be due to a storm that will weaken while moving through the upper Midwest.

Hardware This storm will lose much of its moisture throughout the day, but some rain will make its way through the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast. Additional cool showers will fall through the upper Midwest.

As the associated cold front becomes stationary along the Gulf Coast, lingering showers and thunderstorms are expected from eastern Texas through the Carolinas. This could be good for Texas, which has been hit by a devastating drought.

In the West, a Pacific storm will push into Washington and Oregon, providing rain mainly west of the Cascades. Along with the rain, the region can expect another day of windy conditions.

Dry and warm weather will continue in the middle part of the country, including in the Plains and Great Basin.

The Northeast will rise into the 70s, while the Southeast will see temperatures in the 80s and 90s. The southern Plains will rise into the 90s and 100s, while the Southwest will see similar temperatures. The Northwest will rise into the 50s and 60s.

Temperatures in the Lower 48 states Monday ranged from a morning low of 27 degrees at Stanley, Idaho, to a high of 105 degrees at Llano, Texas.
