Wednesday evening, Allison Park in Mayfair Addition in Lincoln was abuzz with activity as city Alderwoman Marty Neitzel and Alderman Jeff Hoinacki hosted a community party for everyone in the neighborhood on behalf of the city.
Allison Park is named after LeRoy Allison, who designed the Mayfair Addition. The park is a lovely green space in the community, with a playground, a large lot for playing catch and some very nice trees.
Part of the activities Wednesday were designed to make the park all the lovelier as the From the Ground Up group gathered to plant 400 red tulips donated by Hoinacki and Neitzel.
The Lincoln D.A.R.E. program was on hand, with police Chief Ken Greenslate serving as the grill master and cooking up free hot dogs for everyone. The hot dog supper also included chips and soda.
Others on hand included city aldermen, the Lincoln Fire Department and the Lincoln Police Department.
