Monday
afternoon the remains of the original Civil War soldier statue
that stood near the Logan County Courthouse were laid to rest in Postville Park in Lincoln. The
committee formed to replace the statue debated for a while on
how to respectfully dispose of the broken soldier. They
finally concluded Postville would be a suitable place. With permission from the city of Lincoln, a small ceremony took
place; then the soldier was covered. A marker will be
placed at the site to commemorate the statue.

This
week there is work going on at the old train station shipping
dock. The building, which is owned by Gene Rohlfs of
Lincoln, is getting some much-needed work. The dock has
historical significance in Lincoln. Rohlfs purchased the
building with the hopes of restoring it and keeping it as a part
of the city landscape.

Mary
Beth Crocker Dearing and her husband, Tom Dearing, from Newport,
Ky., pose for the media in period costume as they wait to board
the MS Balmoral cruise ship in Southampton, England, on Sunday.
Nearly 100 years after the Titanic went down, a
cruise with the same number of passengers aboard is setting sail
to retrace the ship's voyage, including a visit to the location
where it sank. The Titanic Memorial Cruise is set to depart
Sunday from Southampton, where the Titanic left on its maiden
voyage.
The 12-night cruise will commemorate the 100th
anniversary of the sinking of the White Star liner. With 1,309
passengers aboard, the MS Balmoral will follow the same route as
the Titanic. Organizers are trying to recreate the onboard
experience minus the disaster, from the food to a band playing
music from that era.
Organizers said people from 28 countries have
booked passage, including relatives of some of the more than
1,500 people who died when the Titanic collided with an iceberg
and sank on April 15, 1912.
Get support--from the lactation consultant, the nurses,
or friends and family members who have breastfed before
and can advise you on how to go about it. What you need
to learn is how to position the baby, how to help baby
get a proper latch onto the breast and what is a proper
latch. Although this is described quite well in books,
it is not the same as having someone experienced in the
art of breastfeeding show you how it is done.
For more information,
contact the breastfeeding peer counselor at the Logan
County Department of Public Health, 217-735-2317, ext.
