Thursday afternoon, exactly 40 years to the date after the first resident moved into St. Clara's Manor in Lincoln, the nursing home on Fifth Street celebrated with a launch of 40 red balloons, a chamber ribbon-cut and a reception.

At 2 p.m. several of the residents gathered in front of the building ...

... and launched their balloons.

With clear blue skies above, the red balloons were quite a sight.

St. Clara's administrator, Mike Eads, spoke briefly before cutting the ribbon on the next 40 years.

Chamber representatives, St. Clara's staff and visitors were on hand for the ribbon-cut.

Inside there was live piano music, and later in the afternoon a live bango club offered entertainment as well.

Before there was a St. Clara's Manor, there was a St. Clara's Hospital.

This is a fact that St. Clara's resident  Don Eimer knows all too well, because he was born there.
