 Jason Emerson, author of "The Madness of Mary Lincoln," will sign
books from noon until 2 p.m., and Catherine Clinton, author of "Mrs.
Lincoln: A Life," will sign books from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Copies of
these books may be purchased at the store in the museum, or visitors
may bring their own copies. There is no charge to attend the book
signings.
Both authors will be part of a round-table discussion that
evening about former first lady Mary Todd Lincoln's mental state.
That event will be in Room 212 of the Illinois State Capitol from
5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Distinguished historians, legal experts and mental
health professionals will participate in a discussion of mental
health laws then and now. The event is free and open to the public,
but advance reservations must be made by calling 217-558-8934.
