 At this year's event 180 individuals came
together to celebrate excellence in the workplace. The event was a
great midafternoon break with a catered luncheon by Guzzardo's
Italian Villa and the humor and entertainment of Doug Dvorak.
Dvorak, with alter ego Dr. Earnest Carpediem, started out the
presentation by producing laughter from the crowd and entertained
the group, giving the message that it is essential to have a
positive attitude in the workplace and become motivated for each and
every job that you do.
The chamber thanks State Bank of Lincoln, Seth
Goodman, ME Realty, Deron Powell-State Farm and Graue Inc. for
their generous speaker sponsorship.
At the luncheon, the Office Professional of the
Year nominees were recognized and the 2012 winner was announced. The
nominees were Bunny Laymon of Lincoln Chrysler Dodge & Jeep, Myla
Pruitt of the Lincoln Courier; Jason Hubrich of Insurance Auto Auction,
Mindy Snyder of RW Garrett Agency and Lisa Whitson of the Lincoln
Courier.
The 2012 Office Professional of the Year Award was sponsored by
Eaton Corp., and the winner was Bunny Laymon, who has been the office manager for Lincoln
Chrysler Dodge & Jeep for 32 years.
This award is given to an individual who does outstanding work,
is dedicated to his or her job, gives 110 percent, and is always going that
extra mile. This award was made possible with Eaton's generous
sponsorship.
Bunny Laymon is someone whom each employee of Lincoln Chrysler
Dodge & Jeep calls "the hardest worker you will ever find."
She has been the office manager for 32 years and is the second in
command. She takes care of all the bookwork, money inputs and
everyday general office tasks.
For the first 12-15 years of her work, Laymon did everything
by hand, without computers, and made sure the transition went
smoothly when the company did switch over to computers.

Her brother, Coy Hutchcraft, who has been a co-worker of hers
ever since March of 1980, says that "everything that goes through
the office has been through her hands, and she is the first person
that anyone goes to for questions."
Dan Row, a salesman at Lincoln
Chrysler Dodge Jeep echoes the comments on her hard work in saying that
"she is the first person to arrive and the last person to leave, and
she always knows the answer.'
Scott Soebbing calls her "an extremely hard worker who does her
job diligently and rarely complains."
Kelly Leimbach, said that
Bunny is one of the most pleasant people to work with because she
is helpful and knowledgeable in every aspect of her job.
Each employee at Lincoln Chrysler Dodge & Jeep was unanimous in
saying that Laymon was one of the hardest-working, most dedicated
employees they have ever seen.
The chamber thanks all of those who attended the 2012
Office Professional Luncheon, along with the Hampton Inn for
providing accommodations for the speaker, and Chris Coyne, State
Farm, Guzzardo's Italian Villa, Illini Bank, Lincoln Chrysler
Dodge Jeep and Lincoln Elks 914 for their sponsorship of event
tables.
The chamber also thanks the Lincoln Knights of
Columbus for the use of their facility and making sure that
everything ran smoothly.
The Office Professionals Luncheon is an important part of the
chamber's vision to be the advocate for business by providing
leadership, programs and services that create, protect and enhance
the business environment for the benefit of chamber members, Lincoln
and Logan County.
