Maintenance of the station and apparatus

Many contractors have been through getting bids for replacement windows here at the fire station in the sleeping quarters and Day room.

The apparatus repair list grows with small items. We have emergency lights on 5103 that do not work along with faulty fuel and air gauges. 5101 has gauge lights for the water and foam tanks that are not working. The radio in 5104 has a bad headset and a poor reception is noted for the radio in 5103.

These repairs are on hold at this time.

Finally several radio issues have been corrected. Our final mobile radio was programmed to meet the Federal guidelines and a couple of pagers that need to be serviced have been sent in.

Training Activities

Training for the month of March included Vertical Rope rescue, Confined Space rescue at the ADM Mill with Lincoln Rural Fire Department, Hazardous Materials Operations refresher on setting up formal decon. Night drills were conducted on firefighter rescue drills and operations of lighting equipment.

EMS training for the month covered patient assessment and vital signs.
