[April 27, 2012]  Lincoln College has announced the schedule of events for its annual alumni reunion. This year's reunion will take place Friday and Saturday.

All Lincoln College alumni and friends are encouraged to return for the reunion. Class years and decades will be recognized.

One of the highlights of Alumni Reunion Weekend is the Reunion Dinner and Awards Program. This year, the classes of 1987, 1962, 1942 and 1937 will be recognized for their 25th, 50th, 70th and 75th anniversaries.

Three alumni awards will be presented during this year's dinner and awards program on Saturday, from 5 to 9 p.m. The Alumni Achievement Award will be presented to Lincoln resident Mike Lumpp, Class of 1962, for his success in business and his years of leadership with the Lincoln College Alumni Association. The college's second Distinguished Alumni Achievement Award will be presented to Dr. William Rhoten, Class of 1962, for his outstanding successes in the field of science. A surprise Honorary Alumnus Award will also be presented.

Special recognition will be given to the 1961-62 basketball team and coach Norm Kaye as they celebrate their 50th anniversary of being the first Lincoln College team to make it to the national tournament in any sport. Coach Kaye and most of the '62 team will be in attendance for this celebration. On Saturday afternoon, Kaye and the '62 team will return to their "Lynx Lair" court in the Davidson-Sheffer Gymnasium on the Lincoln campus to play a game of "LYNX" (or "HORSE" as it is more commonly known). This will be from 2:45 p.m. until 4 p.m. All are welcome to attend.

Other scheduled activities:

  • Beer, wine and cheese reception, featuring Hill Prairie Winery of Oakford and Rolling Meadows Brewery of Springfield, on Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Lincoln Center. This event is open to alumni.
