Hearing loss tends to be gradual, and some may not immediately
notice it, according to Lori Faber, a certified clinical audiologist
at Memorial.
"You may feel others are mumbling or you're having difficulty
understanding speech in noisy places. A hearing screening tells us
if there is an actual hearing loss and if further diagnostic testing
is needed," she said.
Memorial's Hearing Center provides diagnostic hearing
evaluations, information on types of hearing loss and treatments,
and equipment such as hearing aids, assistive listening devices,
batteries and hearing aid repair.
Screenings are available by appointment only at
Memorial's Hearing Center, 644 N. Second St. in Springfield.
Appointments can be made by calling 217-788-3767 between 8 a.m. and
4:30 p.m. weekdays.
