[April 30, 2012]  Mother Nature might just be a racer's worst enemy. Cold temperatures and threatening weather had forced Lincoln Speedway to postpone its scheduled opening night for racing.  With breezy conditions and cool temperatures on Friday, track owners Norm and Yvonne Horn were staring Mother Nature down again. This time, however, the skies weren't threatening rain, and Lincoln Speedway was able to welcome racers and fans to the track.

Pulling double duty was Guy Taylor; he was running a "Crate" Late Model as well as a Modified on Friday night. He made his way to the winner's circle in the Modified Feature in the 77 car. Starting on the pole, Taylor had the inside position on a smooth, slick track. Brian Lynn in the 14 Cashless Racing car started on the outside of Taylor and dropped back to third on the start. Lynn managed to get around Brian Divley in the 29 to secure the second-place spot. Divley finished third, with Mike Chasteen Jr. in the 40JR finishing fourth.

Taylor in the 4T was unable to get to victory lane in his Crate Late Model. Nick Bauman in the B1 captured the checkered flag in that feature. No stranger to the track, Bauman was the track
champion in 2011 in this class. Matt Beadles in the 17B crate secured second place and held off Evan Fink in the 1F, who finished third. Taylor grabbed the fourth-place position, followed by Adam Medford in the B4.

The E-Mod feature was won by Floyd Jordan. Jordan kept Mark Anderson in the 31 at bay, leaving Anderson to pick up the second-place finish. Bates in the 49 and Morrow in the 28 rounded out the top four finishes in that class.

John Farris in the 90 wheeled his street stock to victory lane in the Street Stock feature. Kessinger,
Simpson, Massey and Johnson finished in that order to round out the top five in the Street Stocks.

Hornet fans were greeted with a good showing of Hornets Friday night. Bob Sanders in the 3 captured the checkered flag, followed by Zac Bollinger in the 77. John Goveia in the 4G placed third, and Andrew Ingram in the 292 finished fourth.

On Friday this week, Lincoln Speedway will present a full show with Hornets, Street Stocks,
Modifieds, E-Mods and Crate Late Models. Come out and enjoy some great racing at Lincoln
Speedway. Check www.lincolnspeedwayil.com for a full schedule, admission prices and upcoming special events.
