Tuesday morning, one of the barns behind the grandstand of the Logan County Fairgrounds was the purr-fect place to be if you love cats.

A group of young 4-H'ers gathered there to show off their favorite felines.

Shelly Goodman Miller was the judge for the 4-H cat division on Tuesday
morning, along with Suzanne Maxheimer as superintendent.

Explaining how you care for your cat and the routine feeding and handling, plus how you interact with your pet, all  add to the overall judging process.

Some cats let the judge look at their teeth, while others completely
refused.

Miller explains that she looks for cleanliness of the eyes, ears and
teeth, as well as the temperament of the cat.

Most of the cats were not comfortable with the judging process... "Take me
home!"

There were two divisions for cat judging, outdoor and domestic. Ruthie
Ruhl of Mount Pulaski won the outdoor category with her black cat, Midnight.
Presenting the blue ribbon is superintendent Suzanne Maxheimer.

First place in the domestic division was Ashley Zinser with her grey cat,
Pepper. One of the reasons Ashley won this very competitive match was the journaling and record-keeping she did about her care of her cat.
