When Tanner Strampp entered
the goat scramble at the Logan County Fair last year, he really
didn't know what he was getting into, but he was willing
and ready to give it a shot.
Tuesday morning Tanner showed his scramble
goat for the first time ever. When asked if he knew a lot
about goats when he won his prize last year, he laughed and said,
"NO!" His mom, Teresa Strampp, agreed, saying they didn't know
at all what they were in for, but she thought it was well worth it.
And, she was right. At the end of the
day, Tanner took home the top prize in the scramble goat category. Zach Fanning presented Tanner with the first-place trophy, given in memory of Leola Donnan.
Tanner was among approximately a half-dozen
youngsters who had an entry in the scramble goat category.
This evening, area youngsters will have an
opportunity to once again "scramble" to catch an animal at the Logan
County Fair. What they catch, they keep, take care of and show
next year at the 2013 fair.
In the Thursday edition, LDN will have complete coverage of the 2012
goat competitions.
