Members of Farm Credit Services of
Central Illinois were outside the livestock show barn at
the Logan County Fair on Thursday offering some free, cold
refreshment.
The group
handed out slices of cold watermelon. When it was
announced over the loudspeakers at the barns, guests
and exhibitors made quick work of clearing out every
slice.

Skydivers form a massive snowflake formation Friday
in Illinois. Three judges representing
the Federation Aeronautique Internationale, the
international air sports agency, certified that 138
skydivers created the formation over Ottawa, about 80
miles southwest of Chicago. It took 15 attempts over
three days for the team to break the previous record of
108 skydivers, which was set in 2009.

It
is simply amazing some of the wonderful things that can be found
at the fair. It is also amazing to ponder the number of
extremely talented people in Logan County. Ivan Rademaker
made this beautiful oak child's rocker. What child
wouldn't be thrilled to go rocking in this lovely little duck?

This undated image shows Kevin Nealon as Doug Wilson in a scene from the
seventh season of "Weeds." Nealon comes across as a mellow guy,
which makes the title of his new Showtime comedy special a
proper fit. "Kevin Nealon: Whelmed But Not Overly," debuting
Saturday at 10:30 p.m. EDT, is the actor-comedian's
examination of his phobias, ranging from inoculations to cellphones to chimpanzees.
Jamaica
sprinters, from left, Usain Bolt, Yohan Blake and Asafa Powell compete in the
men's 100 meters final in the Athletics Grand Prix at the Crystal Palace in
London. All anyone's talking about ahead of the men's 100 meters is the showdown
between Olympic champion Bolt and world champion Blake, who train together. As the premier track and field event of the London
Games gets started with opening heats, it seems everyone has an opinion about
who's going to win -- and the answers tend to be Bolt or Blake.
