[August 04, 2012]  RIYADH, Saudi Arabia (AP) -- Saudi Arabia says four men on motorcycles ambushed a security patrol in a restive Shiite-majority district in the country's east, sparking a gunfight in which a policeman and one attacker was killed

Interior Ministry spokesman Maj. Gen. Mansour al-Turki said in a Saturday statement that three other attackers who took part in the Friday gunfight in Qatif were arrested, and another policeman was injured.

Members of Saudi Arabia's Shiite minority, who make up 10 percent of the kingdom's population, have been clashing with police in Qatif over the past year, demanding greater rights and an end to what they say is discrimination by the Sunni rulers.
