Wednesday evening a rather large fenced-off area in front of the grandstand at the Logan County Fair was the scene of the annual 4-H scrambles.

The evening began with the national anthem sung by Lesleigh Bennett, then a few welcoming comments for 2012 Logan County Fair Queen Dani Juilfs along with 2012 Little Miss Karson Mott.

The first event was the chicken scramble for children ages 5 and under. In this particular event, the kids catch the chickens but then more or less "exchange" them for a more age-appropriate gift.

When the chickens were let loose on the track, they seemed to be quite content to just stand in one place, but when a roaring stampede of 5-year-olds descended on them, it very soon got interesting.
