Friday, several fabulous
bakers got an opportunity to show off their best cakes and candies at
the Logan County Fair.
On
Saturday will be the first-ever "My Favorite Pie" contest, and on
Sunday will be the Logan County Cake Classic.
Also on Saturday will be the annual chili
cook-off.

Rob
Dunbar won Best of Show Snack Food with his trail mix. A gift was
given to Rob by Sonnie Alexander, managing broker for Coldwell
Banker Cornerstone in Lincoln. Sonnie gives the gift every year in
memory of her mother-in-law, Blanche Alexander, who was active at the
Logan County Fair. |

All
first-place winners in the eight different cake divisions during the
judging on Friday: Sheila Bradburn for her White Butter cake, Red
Velvet cake and Angel Food cake; Sheila's granddaughter Ashlan
Francis for Chocolate cake (ages 10-19); Annie Dunbar for Spice cake
and Chiffon cake; Joan Dahmm for German Sweet Chocolate cake; and Jeanne
Runyon for Chocolate cake.

The
rules state if you win a first place at the judging on Friday, you have
the right to bake on Sunday at the Cake Classic.
If a person wins in more than one category, they get their choice as
to which kind of cake they want to bake.

This
year's Cake Classic will be somewhat of a family affair.
Sheila
Bradburn and her granddaughter Ashlan will be competing against each
other.

In
addition, Jeanne Runyon will be baking against her son Cameron.
