Saturday the Logan County Fair was the scene for the first of what will hopefully be a long tradition of pie baking competitions.

Contestants brought their ingredients and baked their entry pie at the fair. They also brought a pie pre-made that later sold at auction immediately following the chili cook-off.

The winners of the pie competition are as follows:

First place -- Annie Dunbar with a peach-blueberry pie purchased by Judge John McCullough and Mike Maske for $105
Second place -- Judy Cooper with an apple pie purchased by Wayne Hanner and Mike Maske for $105
Third place -- Brandy Dahmm with a peach-blueberry pie purchased by Dahmm Farms for $60
Fourth place -- Sheila Bradburn with an apple pie purchased by Rohrer Family Farms for $60

Other pies, brought in by the contestants but not judged, were auctioned off and purchased by Ritchhart Petting Zoo, Rocking G Cattle, Bob Cooper and another by Ritchhart Petting Zoo.

Total sales from the auction were $480, going to the new Logan County Fair Foundation. The volunteer auctioneer was Sheldon Tibbs. Committee members for the "My Favorite Pie" contest were Deb Rohrer, Janet Dahmm and Blanche Coers.
