In the Modified class, there has been a fairly long history of one of the Bradburn boys coming out on top at the end. This year Jason Bradburn was the only "Bradburn boy" in the arena. It soon became apparent that the other competitors were not going to let a Bradburn take the prize spot for another year.

In the first few minutes of the heat, Bradburn took several hard hits. However, he kept on going and lasted to the end of the race.

When his car died with only two others remaining, he waited out the clock before breaking off his flag. As the other two did battle, the No. 2 car left rolling finally faltered and died. When the driver broke off his flag, Bradburn broke off his as well, landing him in second place instead of third.
