The Logan County 4-H
Foundation presented scholarships to four Logan County 4-H
members at 4-H Night during the Logan County Fair.
Rachel Skelton, daughter of Rusty and Stacie Skelton, a recent
graduate of Lincoln Community High School, received a $500 Ross Conrady Memorial/4-H Foundation Scholarship. Rachel will attend
Illinois State University this fall and major in social sciences
with plans to become a social worker.
Reiley Davis, daughter of Todd and Melissa Davis, a graduate of
Lincoln Community High School, received a $500 Robert Lee Rankin
Memorial/4-H Foundation Scholarship. Reiley currently attends
the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and will be a sophomore
this fall with a major in kinesiology and a minor in nutrition. Reiley plans to become a physician assistant in
sports medicine.
Ryan Huffer, son of Jeff and Patty Huffer, another graduate of Lincoln
Community High School, received a $500 Jim Xamis/4-H Foundation
Scholarship. Ryan will be a sophomore this fall at Southern Illinois
University Edwardsville, majoring in mass communication. Ryan hopes
to do sports news or be a broadcaster.
Zack Huffer, son of Jeff and Patty Huffer, also a graduate of Lincoln
Community High School, received a $500 4-H Foundation Scholarship.
Zack will be in his final year at Illinois State University this
fall and plans to graduate next May with a degree in crop and soil
science. The 4-H Night
was on Wednesday of fair week. During the 4-H animal
scrambles, the four scholarship winners were honored as well as three young ladies who are high school graduates this year.
Those three are (pictured below on the stage, left to right) Rachel
Skelton, Chelsea Coers and Katey Bobell.
Wednesday evening also saw the
judging of last year's scramble calves. The calves were brought
out onto the track by the young people who won them in last year's
scrambles. The winners were responsible for the well-being of the animals
during the course of the year and were required to return
them to the judging this year.
There were nine winners last year and they placed
in this year's judging as follows:
1st – Nick Davis; 2nd – Austin Burris; 3rd –
Mary Rankin; 4th – Zac Bryan; 5th – Lukas Aylesworth; 6th – Cody
Conrady;
7th – Randy Grohmann; 8th – Andrew Renfrow; 9th – Wyatt Conrady
