Thursday afternoon brought Rick Hamm's State Farm Insurance customers and friends out for an appreciation open house.

Hamm had several vendors and activities set up in the parking lot of his office on Keokuk Street.

In spite of the temperatures being a little warmer than a few days ago, a good number of folks came out to see the sights and enjoy some great Guzzardo food.

One of the most interesting demonstrations was by the state police. This truck simulates what happens when you are in an accident with your seat belt buckled and when you do not buckle your seat belt. The kids in the foreground react to the unbuckled dummies flying out the window of the truck. A very good lesson in making sure you remember to buckle up every time.

The gals from Treu Body Works were on hand to answer questions and promote the auto body shop. They were among many vendors on hand to visit, soak up some sun rays and hand out lots of giveaways.

Erv Guyett (center), owner of Collision Concepts, was on hand to show how
dents are removed. This dented hood was made near-perfect by professionally skilled hands, a patient, systematic approach and an eye for detail.

Jobe Howard, owner of Auto Glass of Illinois, was visiting and sharing his
expertise with folks, too. Everyone who came had a good time and should not have left empty-handed.

Guzzardo's Italian Villa catered the food for Rick's open house. Frankie

Several antique cars were on hand for car enthusiasts. There was something
for everyone to enjoy. And what a great day to show off and roll the windows down or take the top off.

Games and face painting made the little ones squeal with delight. This little sweetie decided she didn't want to have her face painted, she wanted to do the painting... Look at her and her mom's hand.
