Thursday evening Maple Ridge Care Centre hosted its 14th annual festival kickoff party. The traditional meal of barbecue, baked beans, pasta salad, chips and cookies was served to hungry folks who turned out to enjoy the food and some excellent music.

Michelle Eyrse, pictured in the first shot below on the right, is the chief administrator at Maple Ridge. She and many members of her staff donned brightly colored tie-dye T-shirts to commemorate the day.

Several folks chose to dine inside in the air conditioning before going outside to the big tent in the parking lot to listen to Gary Osborne and the band play country and soft rock music from the '60s, '70s and '80s.

Also going on outside was face painting and a stand serving up snow cones and cotton candy.
