Sunday, in spite of threats of rain entering the area, folks turned out at the Postville Courthouse to experience a sample of life in the 1800s.

In the days of and prior to the life of Abraham Lincoln, settlers in the Midwest had no modern conveniences. They learned to make what they needed for survival and comfort.

Several craftsmen were on hand at the historic site Sunday to demonstrate how some of those essential items were made.
