[August 28, 2012]  DELAVAN -- Plans are under way for the fall festival parade in Delavan on Labor Day. In keeping with the 175th anniversary celebration for Delavan, the theme for the parade will be "Happy Birthday, Delavan -- 175 years."

The committee announced that there will be a float contest again this year.

Prizes awarded will be $100 for first, $75 for second and $50 for third. To be eligible, float entries must be lined up at the Delavan High School by 9:30 a.m. for judging.

The parade route will be the same as in the past few years, with lineup at the school, then traveling north on Locust Street to First Street to Lake Park.

Because the organizers expect a larger parade this year, they suggest signing up for the parade in advance by contacting parade chair Harriet Szadkowski at 309-241-4479.

For all of the parade rules, visit the festival website at www.delavanfallfestival.com.
