Friday and Friday night
Rain with isolated thunderstorms will gradually spread north today
in advance of the remnants of Isaac. No severe weather is expected
at this time. Rain and isolated thunderstorms will continue tonight,
with locally heavy rainfall developing across southwest through
south-central Illinois by dawn Saturday.
Saturday through Thursday
The remnants of hurricane Isaac will move through central
Illinois this weekend. Heavy rainfall of 3 to 5 inches is likely,
with locally higher amounts possible. The heaviest rain will occur
from late Friday night through Sunday morning. The heavy rain may
lead to flash flooding, despite the ongoing drought, especially in
urban or poor drainage areas. The severe weather threat appears low
at this time, though gusty winds are possible Saturday with the
isolated thunderstorms.

Heavy rainfall from the remnants of Hurricane
Isaac remains a distinct possibility for Saturday and Sunday. The
surface system will track only slowly across the area through the
weekend, bringing periods of rain with isolated thunderstorms.
Rainfall totals still look to be in the 3- to 5-inch range, with
locally higher amounts in areas that see more frequent rounds of
thunderstorms. Just outside the heavy rain axis, storm-total rains
will range from 1 to 3 inches by the time the system finally shifts
east of the area late Sunday or Monday.
