[December 05, 2012]  The Lincoln Christian University Red Lions announced the signing of Jarod Haskell to their intercollegiate baseball team. Haskell, a senior at Warrensburg-Latham High School in Warrensburg, plans to attend LCU beginning in August 2013 and will pursue a bachelor's degree in youth ministry. He traveled to Lincoln on Tuesday with his parents, Mike and Beth Haskell, to sign with LCU head coach Chris Headrick and assistant coach David Upchurch at LCU's Laughlin Center.

"Jarod is going to provide us with depth at the first base position," Headrick said. "I expect him to be a leader on the team throughout his playing career here at LCU."

When asked why he chose LCU, Haskell said: "It is close to home and I have heard only good things about the school, baseball program and youth ministry program. I'm looking forward to extending my playing career at the collegiate level."

LCU's School of Undergraduate Studies is a member of the National Christian College Athletic Association, Division II.

The Red Lions will begin their 2013 baseball season on March 5, when they take on St. Louis Christian College in Hazelwood, Mo.
