ZLS Lady Eagles win 2 with Trinity Lutheran, Bloomington

[December 06, 2012]  BLOOMINGTON -- The Zion Lutheran School Lady Eagles eighth-grade basketball team from Lincoln defeated Trinity Lutheran of Bloomington in an away game on Tuesday by the score of 43-9.

The leading scorers for ZLS were Brooklyn Hermes with 12 points, Hailie Williams and Gabbie Cox with nine points each, and Anna Sielaff with eight points. Also scoring were Tori Tripplett and Lauren Canady with two points each and Danielle Burgrabe with one.

The eighth-grade team's record is now 15-3.

The eighth-grade team will participate in the Edwardsville Trinity Lutheran School Tip-Off Tournament this weekend. Their first game will be with Collinsville Holy Cross Lutheran at 5:15 on Friday. The Lady Eagles are the defending champions of last year's 16-team tournament.

The sixth graders won their Bloomington game 30-22. Lane Prather led all scorers with 19 points. Madelyn Koehler scored six and Olga Harris contributed five points.
