[December 07, 2012]  As the holidays approach, shopping to find that perfect gift for that special someone reaches the top of many to-do lists. This Saturday, take your shopping list to the Pink Shutter as part of the "Thrifty Christmas" window display competition.

The Pink Shutter, with all proceeds supporting the Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, is participating in the fun this year along with New Beginnings, Mission Mart and Goodwill. Shoppers who have their card punched at each store and vote for their favorite display window will be entered to win $10 at each store.

Participants can pick up their cards at the participating stores.

ALMH opened the doors to the Pink Shutter in 1961. It was created to help purchase needed equipment for the hospital and continues to fund various ALMH Auxiliary programs, including Lifeline. The Pink Shutter accepts clothing and houseware donations from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

For more information about the ALMH Auxiliary or the Pink Shutter, contact the volunteer and special services department of ALMH at 217-732-2161, ext. 55705, or visit www.almh.org.
