Orville 'Buzz' Busby

[December 10, 2012]  LINCOLN -- Orville "Buzz" Busby, 75, of Lincoln, died Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

Lincoln- Orville "Buzz" Busby ended his 75 year journey on December 8, 2012 after a lengthy illness.
 
A Memorial Service for Mr. Busby will be held on Saturday, December 15, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Lincoln with Rev. Carroll Richards officiating.
 
Visitation will be held on Friday evening from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the church. Additional visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
 
Cremation rites have been accorded.
 
Buzz was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota on June 21, 1937 to Orville and Isabell (Harris) Busby. Buzz was the oldest son of nine children. He grew up in the suburbs of Minneapolis where he attended school including the University of Minnesota.
 
Buzz worked for Kinney Shoe Store in Hibbing, MN., Des Moines, Ia., Rochester, MN., and the suburbs of Minneapolis. In 1965 he was hired by National Manufacturing out of Sterling / Rock Falls. Roger Mitchell told Buzz that since he was going to work in Central Illinois, then there was no other place to live but Lincoln, Illinois. Buzz loaded up his wife and his three daughters and settled in Lincoln. Buzz remained with National Manufacturing for 34 years. in 1999 he retired to pursue other interests like woodworking, golf, fishing.
 
Buzz was actively involved in Lincoln Elks Lodge #914. He was a member of Compass Masonic Lodge #265 A.F. & A.M. and Zurah Shrine in Robbinsdale, MN., and Logan County Shrine Club.'

Buzz loved the City of Lincoln and served as an Alderman on the City Council for decades as an outspoken, honest and progressive member.

Buzz is survived by his wife Judy of 56 years, his mother Isabelle of Pine River, MN., his three daughters: Chris Busby, Cince (Jerry) Bowns and Cass (Charlie Johnson) Busby, six grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren, three brothers and four sisters.
 
He was preceded in death by his father, maternal grandparents and paternal grandparents, one sister: Eleanor.
 
Buzz was blessed richly with many true dear friends and family members. Many of Buzz's family and friends went before him and now they have been reunited. One friend who has a job that takes "Just an hour," some friends and family to fish with and travel with. Each of Buzz's family and friends are and have been dear to him and his family.
 
In lieu of flowers the family request memorials may be made to the Elk's Crippled Children's Fund, Shriner's Children's Hospital or to the charity of the donor's choice.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Peasley Funeral Home in Lincoln.
