[December 11, 2012]  BLOOMINGTON -- Guests will have an opportunity to see Miller Park Zoo in a different light on Friday and Saturday with the return of "Wild Lights." For this special event, the zoo will have rare evening hours, 5:30-8.

The zoo will be decorated with thousands of luminarias illuminating the walkways of the grounds with candlelight.

During the evening event there will be a number of activities, including cookie decorating, ornament making, "noodle art" and more. Santa Claus will make an appearance as he visits with the zoo's reindeer, Rikka and Ealu. Hot chocolate and popcorn will also be available.

Discount tickets are available in advance at the Bloomington and Normal libraries and at the zoo. Zoological Society members also receive discounted tickets at the door.

For more information, contact Steve Fast at Bloomington Parks, Recreation & Cultural Arts Department, 309-434-2413, or Jay Tetzloff at Miller Park Zoo, 309-434-2250.
