[December 12, 2012]  DECATUR -- State Rep. Bill Mitchell, R-Forsyth, released the following statement Tuesday following the federal appeals court ruling striking down Illinois' ban on concealed carry:

"Today's ruling by the federal appeals court is a victory for law-abiding citizens across Illinois. The Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that Illinois' ban on concealed carry is unconstitutional. I have long held the belief that law-abiding citizens should have the right to protect their families and property from violent criminals. As the only state without some form of concealed carry law, today's court ruling sets in motion a path to concealed carry. I am very pleased that the court upheld our Second Amendment rights. This ruling will force the Chicago politicians who have blocked concealed carry to finally allow us to pass this important law."
