In the upstairs courtroom, Ellis tells the tale of Lincoln's near-death experience when as a youngster he was kicked in the head by a horse.

The special guest of the day is this elegant cake, derived from a French chef's recipe and first created for the Todd family as a sheet cake. It was later transformed into a lovely layer cake by a White House chef.

The story tells of the special cake that was first prepared for the Marquis de Lafayette when he visited the Todds of Lexington, Ky. Later it would be used by Mary Todd as she wooed a proposal out of Abraham Lincoln.
 

 


Feb. 15 -- Congratulations to the Carroll Catholic-New Holland-Middletown seventh-grade volleyball team. The girls won the consolation championship Saturday at the Epiphany Valentine's Day Tournament. Here they celebrate by hamming it up for the camera after their meet was finished
