Aug. 3 -- Honestly now, does it get any cuter than this? Mark and Lexi Merriman of Kenney won first place with their 4-year-old miniature halter horse in the open horse competition this week. Lexi, 2, is "duded" out, complete with spurs!

Aug. 3 -- Horses for harness racing are stabled east of the track

Aug. 6 -- We think it might have been wishful thinking that inspired the artist of this cute little Eskimo cake submitted for consideration at the Logan County Fair this year. Fair week was, to say the least, a little warm all week long. Now that it is over, weather forecasts seem to indicate that it may cool down a bit.

Aug. 7 -- Now that is one big dirt clod! Sunday afternoon at the mud bogs, this young fella decided he preferred his mud dry. He found this dirt clod near the bog pit and had plans to roll it back to his seat, until his folks told him to let it be. In the end he settled for a much smaller one that he could carry in his pocket.

Aug. 20 -- Sunday afternoon while friends and family looked on, the Utterback family scooped up the the symbolic first scoops of dirt at the groundbreaking for their new home. Pictured from left to right, Harley, son Aven, wife Chaka and son Dakyn will soon be moving into the 17th Habitat for Humanity home in Logan County.

Aug. 25 -- Balloons take flight on media night.
