[January 31, 2012]  Monday morning at 9:05 an accident occurred involving the Millwright Local Union 1051 building and 31-year-old Jason Dragoo.

According to the accident report filed by the Lincoln Police Department, Dragoo was northbound on North Logan at the intersection with Keokuk. He was stopped, waiting for the traffic signal to change. Witnesses noted that inside the vehicle, Dragoo seemed to be nodding his head.

According to the witnesses, it appeared that Dragoo accelerated his vehicle through the intersection. Continuing at increasing speeds, he left the roadway to his right and drove into the concrete awning support on the west end of the Millwright building.

The support was knocked out of place, and the truck came to rest against it. Also damaged in the incident was a vehicle belonging to Jenny E. Dalluge.

City police and fire departments responded to the incident, along with Logan County Paramedics. At the time of the incident, Dragoo was unable to speak to the investigating officer. He was transported by LCPA to Memorial Medical Center in Springfield. His current condition is unknown.

Assisted Fire Chief Darren Coffey reported Monday night that the Lincoln Fire Department was on the scene and provided security of the scene until a professional contactor could arrive to reinforce the awning support.
