[February 02, 2012]  Classes at West Lincoln-Broadwell have been benchmarking progress across areas of study. At the January school board meeting, Superintendent Bailey Climer reported that the second phase of benchmarking in the RtI process, the response to intervention, had been completed for literacy, comprehension and computation.

Other items included in the superintendent's report:
  • Building maintenance and other repairs: The garage thermostat is working well. The water heater has been repaired. Brake repairs have been completed on the minivan. After the last heavy rain, Tremco completed a roof inspection.

  • If the board approves, the fiscal 2012 budget could be amended prior to June 30 to reflect savings, revenue and expenditures.

  • PTO is sponsoring a Family Skate Night on Feb. 9.

  • A food service audit will be conducted in February.

  • A school calendar for 2012-2013 is being completed and will be presented in February.

The school board received information from PTO representative Heather Baker that the organization is willing to contribute $5,000 toward the purchase of iPads if the district will agree to match the amount.

School board members discussed attending the spring meeting of their division in the Illinois Association of School Boards and voted to approve Tayler Heidbreder as the new assistant volleyball coach.

The next WLB school board meeting is 7 p.m. Feb. 21.
