[February 03, 2012]  MOUNT PULASKI -- On Feb. 11, a week from Saturday, everyone is invited to Mount Pulaski Courthouse from noon to 4 p.m. to celebrate Abraham Lincoln's 203rd birthday.

Mary Lincoln's cake will be served, along with coffee and punch.

Uncirculated pennies from 2009 will be given away. In 2009, four new pennies were minted to honor the 200th birthday of Abraham Lincoln. The third one was introduced at the Old State Capitol in Springfield. The reverse of the penny shows Abraham Lincoln standing in front of the Old State Capitol.

A legacy of the 175th anniversary celebration of Mount Pulaski last year is the new Mount Pulaski Courthouse Foundation, designed to establish a fund to begin to work on repairs needed on the building. The organization is also seeking to develop a list of Friends of the Courthouse. Brochures are available at the historic courthouse in Mount Pulaski and at the Abraham Lincoln Tourism Bureau of Logan County office in Lincoln.
