Lincoln College wrestlers finish regular season ranked 4th

[February 04, 2012]  Thursday night the Lincoln College wrestling team finished their regular season with a 41-12 win over Knox College at home. Knox College won the first two weight classes due to forfeit, but after that the Lynx took over the dual, winning the next eight matches.

Results for the dual are as follows:

  • 125 lbs. -- Forfeit

  • 133 lbs. -- Forfeit

  • 141 lbs. -- Ethan Raley won by technical fall.

  • 149 lbs. -- Mark Marianovich won by major decision.

  • 157 lbs. -- Mike Togher won by fall.

  • 165 lbs. -- Alex Young won by decision.

  • 174 lbs. -- Steve Burling won by fall.

  • 184 lbs. -- Matt Dwyer won by fall.

  • 197 lbs. -- Michael Johnson won by forfeit.

  • 285 lbs. -- Gabe Berry won by technical fall.

Lincoln College finished the regular season with a 9-3 record. As the team heads into the postseason, they are currently ranked fourth in the country according to the latest poll. 

The Lynx have six individuals ranked in their respective weight classes:

  • 125 lbs. -- Prentice Thomas, sixth

  • 141 lbs. -- Ethan Raley, first

  • 149 lbs. -- Mark Marianovich, fifth

  • 157 lbs. -- Mike Togher, eighth

  • 184 lbs. -- Matt Dwyer, second

  • 197 lbs. -- Michael Johnson, third

The team will now start focusing and preparing for their national qualifying tournament, hosted by Triton College in River Grove on Feb. 12. The top four finishers in each weight class will advance to the national tournament, hosted by Rochester Community College in Rochester, Minn., on Feb. 24 and 25.
