Frontier Airlines to fly nonstop to Denver from Bloomington-Normal

New flights start May 18

[February 10, 2012]  BLOOMINGTON -- A whole different animal will be flying in to central Illinois beginning May 18, when Frontier Airlines begins nonstop service between Central Illinois Regional Airport at Bloomington-Normal and Denver International Airport.

Frontier, a low-fare network carrier with its primary hub in Denver, will offer central Illinois travelers connections through Denver to many popular destinations in the western half of the United States as well as Mexico and Costa Rica. Frontier's tagline and concept of being "A Whole Different Animal" extends to the tails of their aircraft, which depict over 60 animals and quality customer service.

"We are looking forward to bringing our unique high-value, low-fare service to the best-located airport in central Illinois," said Daniel Shurz, senior vice president of Frontier's commercial division.

Frontier's new service to and from Bloomington-Normal will be provided on 99-seat Embraer 190 aircraft. The Embraer 190 features stretch seating with an additional 5 to 7 inches of legroom on every flight and also offers onboard Wi-Fi service from Gogo.

Introductory fares begin at $80 each way for Denver-Bloomington-Normal if booked by Feb. 29 for travel through mid -June.

"We are so pleased to have them join us at the Central Illinois Regional Airport in May to offer central Illinois travelers their exceptional, low-fare service."

Central Illinois Regional Airport at Bloomington-Normal recorded its best year ever in 2011 with 579,265 total passengers, marking the fifth time in six years that the airport has broken previous records. With free parking, low fares and its central location in the region, the airport has become a favorite for central Illinois travelers.
