Zion Mount Pulaski wins GSLAA Class B tournament

[February 28, 2012]  MOUNT PULASKI -- The Zion Lutheran Mount Pulaski boys basketball team traveled to Springfield last weekend to participate in the Greater Springfield Lutheran Athletic Association tourney.

In the first game, Mount Pulaski defeated Jacksonville-Westfair Academy by a score of 36-13. The semifinal matched Zion against Bloomington-Trinity, with Zion winning 33-24.

In the championship game, Zion took on St. Peter Lutheran. Zion outscored St. Peter 16-8 in the second half to claim the championship by a score of 26-24.

Leading the way for Zion was Lukas Aylesworth with 38 points and 27 rebounds, followed by Caleb Pryzkopanski with 16 points and five rebounds. Kurtis Hoock added 14 points and pulled down 14 rebounds. Also scoring for the Crusaders were Sam Mileham with 12 points and 18 rebounds, Caleb Meador with eight points and three rebounds, and Mitch Hagenbuch with seven points and six rebounds. Also seeing action were Josh Jackson, Wyatt Morris, Sebastian Scassiferro and Jacob Mileham.
