Costa says conditions 'regular' on ship

[February 29, 2012]  VICTORIA, Seychelles (AP) -- An Italian company says the situation aboard its disabled cruise ship is "regular," the weather is good and that cold food and mineral water are being provided to the passengers.

The Genoa-based Costa said the Allegra is being towed to the Seychelles' main port and is expected to arrive at about 9 a.m. local time Thursday (5 a.m. GMT, 12 a.m. EST) a little later than reported earlier.

That will be three days after the ship lost power and began drifting in the Indian Ocean.

Costa said Wednesday that soft drinks and cold food such as fruit, cold cuts and cheeses are regularly available. Mineral water is provided for personal hygiene needs and fresh bread is delivered by helicopter service.
