[February 27, 2012]  LINCOLN -- Shirley A. Hunter, 77, of Lincoln, died Monday, Feb. 27, 2012, at 2:34 a.m. at her home.

LINCOLN-Shirley A. Hunter, 77, of Lincoln passed away at 2:34 a.m. on Monday, February 27, 2012 at her home.

Shirley was born on December 14, 1934 in Chicago, IL the daughter of William Alvine and Ethel White Anderson. She married John William Hunter on July 19, 1968 in Lincoln. He preceded her in death March 30, 2011.

She is survived by four sons: John D. (Dorell) Hunter of Lincoln, IL; Bill J. (Kim) Hunter of Westport, CT; Richard Root of Wheat Ridge, CO; Kenney (Kay) Root of Durango, Co.; two daughters: Beverly (Rod) Lewis and Linda Wilson, both of Lincoln; one brother: William (Norma) Anderson of Lincoln; thirteen grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter and very good friends: Ed and Deb Swinford of Hartsburg, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and one brother: Dick.

Shirley worked as a lab technician at the Lincoln Bottle Factory.

Mrs. Hunter will be cremated and a graveside service will be held on Friday, March 2 at 2:00 p.m. at Zion Cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home, Lincoln. Memorials may be given to Memorial Hospice of Central Illinois.
